Repaying my mortgage

If you're thinking about repaying all or part of your existing mortgage, you may have some questions about how this works. Have a look through the information below which should help with some of the key questions.

If you can't find what you are looking for or have specific questions about your mortgage, please get in touch on 0800 121 8899.

Please remember that additional payments are subject to your existing mortgage terms and conditions which may include Early Repayment Charges (ERCs)*.

*An ERC is a fee that may apply if you repay your mortgage balance in full, whilst in your initial period. You may also be charged ERCs if you overpay more than your mortgage allows. You can check the ERCs that may apply to your mortgage in your illustration.

Sending an electronic payment

From another bank or building society account...

If you bank online, setting up a transfer from another organisation might be the quickest and easiest way to pay money in. You can make one-off payments or set up a standing order.

The details you’ll need when paying into a Coventry Building Society mortgage are:

Sort code: 40-63-70

Account number: Your eight-digit account number. You can find this on your latest mortgage statement

Reference: You may use any reference of your choice, or leave blank if you wish.

The details you’ll need when paying into a Godiva Mortgages Limited mortgage are:

Sort code: 40-63-69

Account number: Your eight-digit account number. You can find this on your latest mortgage statement

Reference: You may use any reference of your choice, or leave blank if you wish.

From another Coventry account...

You can log in to Online Services using your existing Security Details to set up a transfer from another Coventry account.

By cheque...

You pay by cheque, either in branch or by post. Please make the cheque out to yourself and write your mortgage account number on the back.

Paying in from a foreign account

We don’t allow any cash or cheque payments into your account in a foreign currency.

To make a payment from an overseas account into your mortgage account, use these details to set up a transfer:

SWIFT code: MIDLGB22

Reference: Customer’s full mortgage account number. (This information is essential; payments not quoting the full account number will be returned to the sender.)

Address: HSBC, Coventry, CV1 1QJ

IBAN number for Coventry Building Society accounts if needed:

GB79MIDL40025021403869

IBAN number for Godiva Mortgages Limited accounts if needed:

GB68MIDL40025041403915

IBAN number for ITL Mortgages Limited accounts if needed:

GB66MIDL40025081404229

It usually takes two business banking days for payments from EU countries to be available. Payments from non-EU countries will usually take six business banking days to be available. Please note: the Society has no influence on these timescales.

If a payment doesn’t quote the full customer’s account number, then it will be returned, irrespective of any other details that may be quoted on the payment advice.

If you receive a payment electronically in a foreign currency, the amount of the transaction is converted into pounds sterling on the date we add it to your account at the wholesale rate of exchange used by HSBC.

Paying more

If you pay extra towards your mortgage, the amount you pay will determine whether it’s treated as a capital repayment or an overpayment.
