Transfer an ISA out of Coventry Building Society

If you'd like to transfer your ISA somewhere else, you'll need to get in touch with your new provider to let them know you'd like to do an ISA transfer. They'll let you know what you need to do.

To make sure your savings remain tax-free, please remember to ask your new ISA provider for an 'ISA transfer'. It's different from a 'transfer’, since if you move money yourself it loses its tax-free status.

Before you request an ISA transfer, please make sure you check the terms and conditions of your existing and new ISA (to check for any restrictions or charges which may impact the transfer).

How long will it take to process my transfer?

Whenever we receive a request to transfer your ISA funds to a new ISA provider, we'll complete the ISA transfer and send your savings to your account with the new provider. There are maximum time frames for most ISA transfers (but it can depend on the provider you’re transferring to). For more updates, speak to your new provider.

Transferring to another cash ISA can take

up to 15 business days

Transferring to or from a stocks and shares ISA can take

up to 30 calendar days

A flexible ISA allowance is not transferable

If you've created a flexible allowance in the ISA you want to transfer, it only applies to that specific ISA account. If you decide to transfer that ISA to another provider and close the account, you will lose the flexible ISA allowance you've created.

Can I transfer my savings from a cash ISA to a different type of ISA?

You may be able to transfer some or all of your money from a cash ISA to a different type of ISA – stocks and shares, Lifetime, or innovative finance. It will depend on the terms of the new ISA you want to transfer to, so it's best to check with your new provider.

Can I transfer some of my ISA savings to a new provider?

If you’re considering transferring your ISA out of Coventry Building Society to another provider, here are some things you need to know:

  • If you're transferring money from your current cash ISA for the current tax year, you need to transfer the full amount.
  • If you're transferring money from a previous tax year, you can transfer the full amount or part of it. You can also transfer savings from more than one previous ISA.
  • If you've created a flexible ISA allowance, you can't transfer the allowance to another ISA.
