Telephone Services

Accessing your accounts by phone

Our UK-based Customer Service Centre is available on

It's free to call from mobiles and landlines. We’ll be happy to help. 

We’re open Monday to Friday 8am-7pm and Saturday 9am-2pm
(closed on bank holidays).

To manage your accounts by phone you'll need:

  • Telephone Password 
  • Telephone Grid Card 

If you don’t have these details and you want to register for Telephone Services, you can order a Password Letter to set up your Telephone Password. Your Telephone Grid Card will be sent to you when your Telephone Password is set up. Or you can call us or visit your nearest branch.

Set up or reset your Telephone Password


We can post a Password Letter to you and you can create a new password.

If you have your Password Letter


Use the temporary password on the letter to set up your Telephone Password online.

If you’ve lost your Telephone Grid Card


You can request a replacement Telephone Grid Card online. Call us on 0800 121 8899 or visit your nearest branch.


Outside of working hours

If we’re closed, you’ll automatically be directed to Telephone Self-Service.


You’ll need your Telephone PIN. If you’ve lost it call us on 0800 121 8899 or visit your nearest branch.


You can use Telephone Self-Service to:

  • Activate a card
  • Report a lost or stolen card
  • Request a savings account application
  • Check your account balance
  • Review the interest rates for the accounts you hold with us
  • Order a telephone password letter
  • Request a savings or redemption statement

If you want to transfer money, you’ll need to call and speak to us during working hours so we can confirm it’s you making the transfer – you can no longer do this using Telephone Self-Service. We’re open Monday to Friday 8am-7pm and Saturday 9am-2pm (closed bank holidays).
