Don't let this year be the year we forget

Poppies in a pandemic

The streets are quieter this year. In lockdown, our Poppy Appeal collectors can’t be out on the streets and need your help to support the Poppy Appeal. When you take out a Poppy account, we commit to donating even more money to our charity partner, The Royal British Legion, to support the vital and life-changing work they do.

The effects of coronavirus are affecting The Armed Forces community in many ways, including homelessness and hardship. We’re honoured to be by their side as we fight this invisible war together.

Every poppy counts

Since 2008, we’ve been proud partners of The Royal British Legion.

Our Poppy Appeal collectors, like our local friend Derrick, need to stay at home this year to be safe. So it’s our turn to spread the word and make sure that nobody forgets the importance of supporting the Poppy Appeal. There are new ways (including virtual) to donate. The Armed Forces community past and present need our support.

Over £18 million

Since 2008, we’ve donated £18.5 million to The Royal British Legion based on how much our members have saved in Poppy accounts. And since 2012 we’ve donated over £300,000 from fundraising, too.

"If it wasn't for the Legion, I wouldn't be where I am; the Legion played a massive part in my recovery."

Anna Pollock

Former Medic in the RAF

You’ll find Coventry Building Society staff helping wherever the Legion want us...

What could £300,000 fund?

A team of 75 Admiral Nurses that help families caring for a loved one with dementia to help them live as independently as possible.

What could £1,500 fund?

Food vouchers for 30 Service families that may be facing financial hardship as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Are you making the most of your savings?

We know it’s been a difficult year for savers. The Bank of England Base Rate is at an all-time low, and while many of our variable accounts don’t track base rate, it still has an effect on how much we can pay our members.

This means we’ve had to make some really tough decisions about reducing the interest rates we pay.

Holiday fraud

Fraudsters are clever: they’ll use any situation to help them steal your money or your personal details. Since many of us are on the lookout for a holiday bargain, now is the time to be extra vigilant.
